Job summary

Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive primary classroom in Richmond. You will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils with a range of SEND, helping them develop independence, confidence and academic progress.

This full-time role runs 8:00am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday, in a supportive school environment. You will deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support in line with EHCPs and contribute to differentiated lesson plans.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or equivalent).
• Experience with SEND pupils, preferably in a mainstream school.
• Strong safeguarding, inclusion, and child-centred pedagogy understanding.
• Excellent communication and ability to build relationships with pupils, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support aligned with EHCPs.
• Implement differentiated lesson plans ensuring accessible materials.
• Monitor and record pupil progress; report observations to staff.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Support transitions between activities, lunchtime and outdoor play.
• Assist with resource preparation, displays and administrative tasks.
