Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd in Alnwick is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and other learning needs in a specialist provision. The role is full-time and long-term, with an ASAP/September 2026 start.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, helping pupils access learning, build confidence and develop skills for success in and out of the classroom. Ongoing training and a supportive team ensure professional growth.

Qualifications

• Experience is beneficial, but not essential; requires positive attitude, good relationship-building and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small groups
• Helping pupils engage with classroom activities and learning
• Supporting communication, social skills and emotional wellbeing
• Encouraging independence and confidence
• Adapting learning activities to suit individual needs
• Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
• Working closely with teachers, SEND staff and external professionals
• Recognising and celebrating progress, no matter how small
