Job summary

TeacherActive in Birmingham is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support young adults with severe learning disabilities and physical needs at a specialist SEND college in Northfield. Immediate start, £90-£100 per day PAYE.

You'll work with teaching staff to meet individual learning, personal care and mobility needs, while contributing to a safe, engaging learning environment and flexible day-to-day cover as required. The role offers supportive onboarding and market-leading pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young adults with severe learning disabilities (SLD) and physical needs.
  • Caring, patient and positive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

Are you a compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting young people with additional needs? Do you enjoy making a positive difference in the lives of young adults with severe learning disabilities and physical needs? Are you looking for flexible day-to-day and short-term work within a welcoming and supportive college environment?

TeacherActive is engaging with a specialist SEND college based in Northfield, Birmingham. The college supports young people aged 18 to 25 with severe learning disabilities and physical needs, providing a caring environment where students are encouraged to develop independence through meaningful learning experiences and community-based educational trips.

Responsibilities
  • Support students both in the classroom and during community-based activities, working closely with teaching staff to meet individual learning, personal care and mobility needs while maintaining a safe, positive and engaging environment.
  • Contribute to flexible day-to-day and short-term cover arrangements as required by the college.
Qualifications
  • Experience supporting children or young adults with severe learning disabilities (SLD) and physical needs.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.

  • A Child and Adult Workforce DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
