Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for long-term roles in Burwell. The role involves supporting pupils with SEND across diverse school settings, managing behaviour, and implementing individual support plans in close collaboration with teachers and SENCOs.

The ideal candidate will have SEND experience, empathy, strong communication and teamwork abilities, plus relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, CACHE Level 2/3).

Qualifications

• Has experience supporting children with SEND in educational settings.
• Demonstrates resilience, empathy and a calm approach to challenging behaviour.
• Is confident working independently and as part of a team.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Holds relevant training or qualifications (e.g. Team Teach, Step On, CACHE Level 2/3).
• Is committed to promoting pupil well-being and progress.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of special educational needs including ASD, SEMH, MLD and SLD
• Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
• Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement individual support plans
• Encourage pupil engagement and participation in learning activities
• Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
• Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
• Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies consistently
