Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with a range of needs across Barnet and surrounding areas. Roles are available full-time and part-time, with duties including one-to-one support and assisting teachers in delivering tailored activities.

Ideal candidates have experience with SEND, strong communication, patience and empathy, and a willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS or Update Service. Salary is dependent on experience and paid weekly through PAYE.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND in school or care settings.
• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of special educational needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support.
• Help pupils engage with the curriculum and develop independence.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
• Contribute to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils.
