Job summary

Teach South Sussex is seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in Peacehaven. This rewarding role is based in local schools and offers flexible hours with a pay rate of £14.24 per hour.

You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to provide one-to-one and small-group support, delivering tailored learning plans and helping pupils progress academically, socially, and emotionally in an inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEND in a school or educational setting.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with a range of SEND.
• Assist in the delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies.
• Support pupils with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
• Adapt learning activities in collaboration with teachers to meet individual learning requirements.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and active participation in the classroom.
• Promote positive behaviour and help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents where appropriate.
