Job summary

The Hewett Academy in Norwich is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our Specialist Resource Base (SRB) team, supporting pupils with SEND and EAL to access learning. You’ll work both with individual learners and small groups, delivering targeted interventions and liaising with teachers and care teams to promote inclusion.

You’ll join a supportive environment that values professional development, safeguarding, and building confidence in pupils.

Qualifications

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Experience or understanding of supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Experience or caring for children of relevant age.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults and build positive relationships.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and understand the Teaching Assistant role.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND and EAL to access learning and achieve their potential.
  • Work with individuals and small groups delivering structured learning activities.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers on SEND provision.
  • Support classroom management and promote positive behaviour.
  • Provide one-to-one support to identified pupils to build confidence and independence.
  • Prepare learning resources and support ICT use.
  • Support pupils during assessments, trips and other activities outside the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SEND staff, external professionals, parents and carers.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Undertake training to deliver specialist interventions.
