Job summary

Axcis Education is seeking caring Teaching Assistants with a care background to support pupils aged 4–14 at a specialist SEND school in St Helens. Immediate or October 2026 start, with full-time or part-time long-term roles. Experience in care or healthcare is welcomed and personal care may be required.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, assist with learning and development, and help manage emotions and behaviour while working with teachers and therapists in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in care, support work, healthcare or with vulnerable individuals is valuable.
• Ability to support learning and development for pupils with varied needs.
• Willingness to work with care plans and follow safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
• Assist with learning, communication and development.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Help pupils build confidence, independence and social skills.
• Assist with sensory, physical and medical needs and personal care as required.
• Build trusting relationships and follow individual support plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
• Maintain a safe, calm and structured environment.
