Job summary

Birches First School in Codsall is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide targeted SEND support for children at our welcoming first school. The role involves 1-2-1 and small group support to help pupils develop academically and socially within a caring school community.

You will work with a supportive team, contribute to planning and assessment, and follow recommendations from specialists to improve learning outcomes.

Qualifications

  • L2 TA standard or equivalent qualification/experience is required.
  • Ability to adapt learning and planning to individual needs.
  • Experience in assessment and recording progress.
  • Excellent communication with children, parents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

Birches First School, Codsall.

Birches First School are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to provide SEND support for children with special educational needs at our welcoming First school. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to children’s learning and development within our supportive school community, part of Codsall Multi Academy Trust.

Location Birches First School

Salary Grade 4, Point 5: £25,989 (FTE)

Hourly rate: £13.92 Per Hour

Hours Monday – Friday 8.30am 12.00pm 17.5 hours per week

Contract End Date 31/08/2027

Start Date ASAP

About the Role

As a 1-2-1 / Small group Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support children's learning and developmentthrough engaging, activities that inspire curiosity and creativity
  • Work collaborativelywith our experienced team to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment
  • Help children developtheir social, emotional, and academic skills
  • Build positive relationshipswith children, parents, and colleagues to ensure the pupil thrives
  • Contribute to planning and assessmentto meet individual children's needs
  • Follow recommendations from educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, or other professionals.
  • Provide feedback to teachers, SENDCo, and parents where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and support provided.
  • Liaise effectively with class teachers, SENDCo, therapists, and parents.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • L2 TA standards or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Ability to adapt learning and planning to meet a child's specific needs
  • Skills in assessment and recording progress
  • Willingness to undertake personal care needs if required
  • Excellent communication skills with children, parents, colleagues and external agencies
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with teachers, SENCo and outside agencies
  • Experience of managing SEND-related behaviours
  • Understanding of ASD and its effects on behaviour and communication
  • Commitment to supporting families and building strong home-school partnerships
  • Dedication to continuous professional development

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent
