Senploy is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant in Lambeth to support pupils with autism and communication needs. You will help learners engage with lessons, build confidence and promote independence by tailoring support to each child’s strengths and needs.
Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and school team to deliver focused 1:1 and small-group support, adapting activities to enable access to learning and to support emotional regulation.
A welcoming and inclusive school in Lambeth is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism and communication needs. You'll help each child take part in learning, build confidence and develop greater independence, using an approach shaped around their individual strengths and needs.
You may work with children who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech, language and communication needs, or related learning and developmental needs. Some pupils may have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and benefit from clear routines, structured support and tailored communication strategies.
You'll take time to understand how each pupil communicates, what helps them feel settled, and what may make learning or transitions more difficult. Your aim is to provide the right support while encouraging pupils to do as much as they can for themselves.
Working with class teachers, the SENCO and the wider school team, you'll:
We'd particularly like to hear from people with experience supporting children or young people with SEND in a school, specialist provision, care setting or another relevant environment. Experience with autism, communication support, EHCPs or individual learning plans would be valuable.
You’ll be patient, compassionate and consistent, with the ability to build warm, professional relationships. You’ll understand that communication and behaviour can vary from child to child, and you’ll be ready to adapt your approach, work as part of a team and encourage pupils' independence.
Progress can take many forms: expressing a need, joining an activity, managing a transition or completing a task more independently. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll help pupils develop the skills and confidence to make those steps.
If you have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs and are looking for your next SEND Teaching Assistant role in Lambeth,
