Job summary

Cover People are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a special needs primary school in Widnes. You will support KS2 pupils with Autism and Complex Needs in the classroom and across the school day.

This is a full-time, long-term role, Monday to Friday, with a daily pay rate of £95–£110 DOE. Start date ASAP. You will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with Autism and Complex Needs, helping them develop confidence and independence; full safeguarding checks apply.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
• Experience with autism/complex needs or SEND.

Responsibilities

• Support KS2 pupils with Autism and Complex Needs in the classroom.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support, adapting activities to meet individual needs.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and help them develop confidence and independence.

Cover People are recruiting an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant for a special needs primary school in Widnes, supporting KS2 pupils with Autism and Complex Needs. You ll provide tailored classroom and individual support, helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.

The Role:

Support KS2 pupils with Autism and Complex Needs in the classroom and throughout the school day.

Provide 1:1 and small-group support, adapting activities and learning to meet individual needs.

Build positive relationships with pupils and help them develop confidence, communication and independence.

Support pupils who may display challenging behaviours, remaining calm, patient and consistent.

Use positive reinforcement and appropriate strategies to encourage engagement and participation.

Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support pupils wellbeing and progress.

Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive.

The Ideal Candidate:

Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.

Some experience working with children with Autism, Complex Needs or other SEND.

Patient, resilient and calm when dealing with challenging situations.

Confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis.

A flexible, hands-on approach and good communication skills.

Able to build positive relationships with children and encourage their development.

A genuine passion for helping children with additional needs reach their potential.
