Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in South Tyneside. The role runs full-time, 8:30–15:15, Monday to Friday, with a view to a permanent position for the right candidate.

You will support pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties or autism, providing one-to-one and group assistance, and helping adapt materials to meet diverse needs while promoting inclusive education.

Qualifications

• Must hold a CACHE Level 3 qualification.
• Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
• Experience supporting students with SEND is essential.
• A DBS Update Service or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEND.
• Assist learning activities and ensure inclusion in lessons.
• Adapt and modify learning materials for diverse needs.
• Support development of social, emotional and behavioural skills.
• Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to implement learning plans.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
• Assist with classroom management and create a safe learning environment.
• Promote inclusion, equality and respect for diversity.

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant specialist school in South Tyneside. This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced professional looking to make a positive impact in an inclusive and supportive educational environment. You will be working with children whom have profound and multiple learning difficulties, and/or working with pupils diagnosed with autism. The role is to start in and will be full-time 8:30-15:15 Monday to Friday, with a view to a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and group support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
• Assist students with learning activities, ensuring they are fully included in lessons.
• Adapt and modify learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Support the development of student's social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement individual learning plans.
• Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents where necessary.
• Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
• Promote inclusion, equality, and respect for diversity across the school.

Requirements

• Must hold a CACHE Level 3 qualification
• Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting
• Experience supporting students with SEND is essential
• A valid Child workforce DBS on the Update Service or have one in progress
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
• A clear understanding of how to support students with a variety of SEND needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities
• A positive and professional attitude towards inclusive education
• An ability to adapt quickly and effectively in a dynamic school environment
