Job summary

Cover People is hiring a Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant for a SEND school in Bury. Start ASAP on a temp-to-perm basis with full-time hours (8:30am-3:30pm).

The role involves supporting students with SEND, employing behaviour management strategies, and collaborating with staff and families to create an inclusive learning environment. You will work in a hands-on, supportive, values-led setting with ongoing training and opportunities to move to a permanent contract after 12 weeks.

Qualifications

• CV with full history from education to present.
• Right to Work & Proof of Address in the UK.
• DBS certificate on the Update Service (or be happy to apply for a new one).
• Min of 2 professional references.
• Overseas Police Check if applicable.
• Some experience supporting primary aged children with behaviour needs.

Responsibilities

• Support a range of children with SEND including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and Communication Needs.
• Employ preventative strategies and de-escalation techniques to manage behaviour so pupils can focus on learning and the teacher can deliver.
• Break down instructions to make tasks easily understood and achievable for pupils.
• Support the rest of the class or others when required.
• Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement.
• Work closely with the teacher, management, support staff, parents and outside professionals.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and collaborative work environment.

This is a potential Temp-to-Perm role, starting ASAP at a Secondary SEND school in Bury.

Role: Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant at a SEND school in Bury.

Start date: ASAP.

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

Contract: Temp-to-Perm potential to move onto contract at school.

Excellent pay: £(Apply online only)/day DOE for first 12 weeks paid PAYE direct via Cover People. We don t use umbrella companies!

What you ll do

• Supporting a range of children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and Communication Needs.
• You will need to look out for triggers and employ preventative strategies and de-escalation techniques to help manage their behaviour so that pupils can focus on learning and the teacher can focus on delivery.
• Tailored support in lessons, breaking down instructions and tasks so they are easily understood and the pupil feels they are achievable.
• At times you may be required to support the rest of the class or others.
• Providing lots of encouragement and positive reinforcement.
• Working closely with the teacher, management, support staff, parents and outside professionals.
• Contribute to a safe, positive, inclusive and collaborative work environment.
