Job summary

Coppice School in Doncaster is seeking two experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with autism, ASD, and severe learning disabilities in a long-term role starting 2 November 2026. The role involves 1:1 and small group support, managing challenging behaviours, and encouraging engagement in learning.

Requirements include Team Teach training, an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, a full UK driving licence, and resilience with strong communication.

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant with Team Teach training who can confidently support pupils with autism, severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviours?

Do you have the resilience, patience and adaptability to make a real difference to children and young people with complex additional needs?

Are you ready to take on a rewarding long-term role in a specialist school, and do you hold a full UK driving licence and an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with Coppice School, a specialist setting in Doncaster which provides education for 166 children and young people aged between 3 and 19 with Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD). The school provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment, helping pupils develop their independence, confidence and individual abilities.

The school is looking to appoint 2 experienced SEND Teaching Assistants on a long-term basis from 2nd November 2026. The successful candidates will support pupils with autism / ASD, severe learning disabilities and complex needs, providing 1:1 and small group support, managing challenging behaviours and encouraging positive engagement with learning.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• Team Teach training, with the ability to confidently support pupils displaying challenging behaviours
• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
• Experience working with children and young people with autism / ASD and severe learning disabilities
• Experience supporting pupils with a range of additional and complex needs
• A full UK driving licence
• A resilient, patient and adaptable approach, with strong communication skills
