Job summary

Rising Hope Education Ltd is seeking a Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant to join a primary-aged class within a specialist SEN setting in East London. The role demands warmth, consistency and strong relationship skills to support children effectively from day one.

Some Teaching Assistant roles are primarily about helping children complete their work.

This role starts with understanding the child.

Rising Hope Education is looking for a Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant to join a primary-aged class within a specialist SEN setting in East London.

The pupils you'll support have a variety of additional needs, and successful support relies heavily on relationships, communication, consistency and emotional regulation.

There may be occasions when a child becomes dysregulated or struggles to communicate what they're feeling.

When that happens, we need somebody who can remain calm, predictable and compassionate.

Someone who doesn't take behaviour personally.

Someone who can reset tomorrow and greet that child with exactly the same warmth they did today.

You'll help pupils to:

• Communicate their wants and needs
• Access learning
• Manage transitions
• Develop independence
• Build positive relationships
• Develop social interaction
• Regulate their emotions
• Feel safe, understood and successful within school

Previous SEND experience would be fantastic, particularly within autism, complex needs or communication.

However, we'd also welcome strong candidates from care, support work, youth work, psychology or similar backgrounds who have the right values and resilience.
