Job summary

About the school

Unity College offers a bespoke educational provision in a nurturing environment across two sites. The main site is located in West Wycombe, with a satellite nurture base on the outskirts of Aylesbury. Both sites provide safe and caring spaces where students can express feelings, emotions and anxieties that may otherwise act as barriers to learning. Specialist vocational learning spaces, designated teaching rooms and outdoor learning opportunities are also available.

To meet the diverse needs of students, the school maintains a high staff-to-pupil ratio, with classes typically comprising no more than three pupils. Each class is fully staffed to support all individual requirements. The school values every member of staff and is committed to supporting professional development.

The role

The SEND Teacher will plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching that meets the diverse needs of pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. The post holder will model professional integrity and the school’s EPIC values, work collaboratively within the school community and adhere strictly to the Staff Code of Conduct to promote a safe, respectful and nurturing learning environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver lessons that support a wide range of learning styles within Physical Education.
  • Provide professional learning and development for all pupils by establishing personalised learning routes.
  • Support individual pupils as required and encourage independent research.
  • Prepare teaching materials and instruct and monitor students in the safe use and care of equipment to prevent injury or damage.
Requirements
  • A committed and passionate approach to supporting students with SEND.
  • At least two years’ experience of working in a SEND environment or similar provision.
  • QTS or QTLS is essential.
