Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a welcoming specialist school in Darlington to recruit a passionate and dedicated SEND Teacher.

The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, delivering engaging and accessible lessons tailored to individual learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for a patient, adaptable and nurturing teacher who is committed to helping every pupil make progress.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Support pupils with needs such as autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
  • Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress.
  • Follow Education, Health and Care Plans and individual support plans.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, parents, carers and other professionals.
  • Promote pupils' confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
  • Manage behaviour positively and consistently.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
  • Qualified Teacher Status, QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to differentiate lessons effectively.
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
