Job summary

Churchwood Primary School is seeking a passionate SEND teacher to join our Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP). You will work closely with our SENDCo, experienced SEND teachers and TAs to deliver bespoke learning for pupils with ASC and related needs.

We welcome applicants with SEND experience, including Early Career Teachers. The role offers flexible part-time or full-time arrangements, with strong support from The Pioneer Academy Trust and ongoing professional development.

Job description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEND teacher to join our Enhanced Learning Provision. The successful candidate will work alongside our experienced SENDCo, experienced SEND teachers, experienced and committed SEND TAs, as well as additional support from other SEND unit teachers across the Trust, and our Academy Central Head of SEND.

Part time applications can be considered for the right applicant, please state in your application your preference for full time or part time.

About The ELP:

The Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP) at Churchwood Primary School aims to provide an engaging, safe and personalised learning environment. Our objectives include encouraging students to develop independent learning skills whilst nurturing opportunities for our learners to express themselves in a wide variety of ways.

Students with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) benefit from personalised and adapted learning experiences. Our curriculum is centered around the children, ensuring their specific needs are catered for with bespoke planning and resourcing. Developing positive interactions/communication with peers and adults is woven into the school day.

Our approach includes:

• A flexible school day tailored to sensory needs
• Enhanced opportunities for recall and consolidation
• Adapted lessons for autistic learners, including those with co-occurring needs such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and ACEs
• Reintegration into mainstream and reverse integration opportunities where appropriate

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and committed teacher who:

• Has a strong understanding of a range of special educational needs
• Possesses a solid foundation in autism-specific strategies
• Has prior experience working in SEND settings (this role is not suitable for newly qualified teachers without SEND experience)
• Is a team player with a long-term commitment to supporting children with SEND
• Is ambitious on behalf of our pupils and reflective in their practice

We welcome applications from experienced teachers, as well as Early Career Teachers who have relevant prior experience in SEND.
