Job description

SEND Teacher – SEMH & ASC

Location: Multi-site provision - Based in the Harrogate area - Pay based on experience and qualifications

Ready to teach lessons that truly change lives? Whether you're an experienced educator or an ECT finding your feet, we’ve got a brilliant opportunity for a compassionate, resilient teacher who thrives on challenge and connection.

We’re working with a Good to Outstanding specialist setting supporting pupils with SEMH and ASC across multiple sites near Harrogate. No two days are the same, and that’s exactly how we like it.

About the role:
You’ll be teaching students with diverse needs—so flexibility, patience, and a sense of humour are essential. Your week might include a mix of whole class lessons, small group work, and 1:1 interventions. You'll have the chance to build real, lasting relationships and help young people build confidence and life skills.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Planning and delivering creative, adaptable lessons that meet varied needs

  • Creating a safe, engaging space where students can thrive

  • Teaching practical strategies pupils can use beyond the classroom

  • Providing regular assessment and meaningful feedback

  • Supporting behaviour calmly and constructively

  • Collaborating with the wider school team to make a real impact

You’ll be great if you:

  • Hold QTS or are an ECT with SEND placement experience

  • Have taught across Primary, Secondary, or vocational subjects

  • Know your way around behaviour support (Team Teach training? Even better!)

  • Are confident teaching in SEND schools, PRUs, or alternative provisions

  • Understand how to support pupils with Autism, SEMH, ADHD, or complex needs

  • Can commute between sites and bring consistency to your teaching

Why Protocol Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay—no umbrella, no hidden deductions

  • Your own SEND specialist consultant, always just a call away

  • Full access to our online CPD academy

  • Total flexibility through your own online diary

  • Be part of a team that gets SEND—our consultants are trained and experienced in the sector too
