Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a SEND Teacher to join a specialist setting supporting young people aged 5-16 with a range of SEND, including SEMH. Location: Cramlington, Northumberland. Working hours: 8.30 am to 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Start date: November 2026. You will plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs and work with teaching assistants to create a calm, positive learning environment where students feel safe, valued and encouraged to achieve.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND/SEMH.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs.
  • Patient, calm and resilient when supporting students with complex needs.
  • Confident managing behaviour and supporting emotional regulation.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons for pupils aged 5-16 with SEND/SEMH needs.
  • Adapt lessons and resources to meet the individual needs and abilities of each student.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and resilience.
  • Support students with emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour strategies within the classroom.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and the wider school team to provide personalised support.
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching to support individual learning and development.
  • Promote a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment where every student feels respected, understood and able to succeed.
  • Encourage students to develop their independence, confidence and life skills alongside their academic learning.

Location: Cramlington, Northumberland

Working hours: 8.30 am- 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday

Pay Rate - £700 - £750 per week (Negotiable depending on qualifications and level of experience)

Milk Education is recruiting a SEND Teacher to join a specialist setting supporting young people aged 5-16 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The school provides a nurturing and highly supportive environment for students who may have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences and barriers to learning. Students may present with a range of complex needs and behaviours, meaning a patient, adaptable and relationship-focused approach is essential.

The school offers small class sizes, with a maximum of 10 students in each class, allowing teachers to provide a highly personalised approach and give each young person the individual support and attention they need.

As a SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that are tailored to the individual needs, abilities and interests of your students. You will work closely with teaching assistants, support staff and the wider school team to create a calm and positive learning environment where students feel safe, valued and encouraged to achieve.

SEND Teacher Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
  • A strong understanding of how to adapt teaching and learning to meet individual needs
  • Patient, calm and resilient when supporting students with complex needs
  • Confident managing behaviour and supporting students with emotional regulation
  • Able to build positive, trusting relationships with young people
