Job summary

Colne Primet Academy in Colne is seeking a SEND Support Assistant (TA3) to work with pupils with special educational needs across KS2/KS3/KS4. You will support learning, monitor behaviour, and contribute to planning and delivering targeted interventions.

The role requires qualifications in childcare or early years, good numeracy and literacy, and a collaborative approach. Training and CPD are encouraged; you will work closely with teachers and support staff.

Qualifications

• Understand the needs of children with SEND
• Experience of working with SEND children in education
• Experience of using IEPs, ILPs and EHCPs
• Experience of working with children in KS2 / KS3 / KS4 and relevant qualifications
• Understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities of Teaching Assistants
• Ability and confidence to assist pupils with basic numeracy and literacy in line with learning strategies and national curriculum
• Experience of basic administrative tasks
• Experienced/trained first aider, or willing to complete training in first aid
• Experience as a cover supervisor or similar role
• Experience of exams invigilation

Responsibilities

• Support learning for pupils with SEND across KS2/KS4
• Assist teachers in delivering targeted interventions
• Help manage behaviour and create a positive classroom environment
• Assist with basic numeracy and literacy activities
• Support administration tasks related to classroom activities

Education

Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy

4 GCSEs at grade C, including Maths and English

Level 2 Childcare qualification or equivalent

Level 3 Childcare qualification or equivalent

HND, Degree or other further qualifications
