Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Supply SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of needs in Derby primary schools. You will provide one-to-one and small-group help, support learning goals, promote positive behaviour and help pupils access the curriculum.

We offer day-to-day, short-term and long-term placements, flexible hours, competitive pay (£95-£100 per day), access to CPD training and ongoing local support from the Derby team.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Experience working in a primary school, nursery, care, youth work or similar setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong and trusting relationships with children.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach to supporting individual needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

The Role

As a Supply SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll provide dedicated support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and help them access learning and develop their confidence and independence.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Supporting children with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication and learning difficulties.
  • Working closely with teachers and SENCOs to support individual learning plans.
  • Delivering targeted interventions and supporting children's individual learning goals.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping pupils to develop their social and emotional skills.
  • Supporting children to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
  • Providing personal care where required.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and encouraging their confidence and independence.
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
