Job description

SEND Supply Teacher - The Ascent Academies' Trust

Vision for Education is proud to be the Managed Service Provider (MSP) for The Ascent Academies' Trust and is looking for enthusiastic, compassionate and adaptable SEND Supply Teachers to work across the Trust's specialist academies in the North East.

As the Trust's exclusive provider of supply staffing, we can offer regular day-to-day, short-term and long-term opportunities throughout the academic year.

Whether you're an experienced SEND Teacher, a mainstream Teacher looking to move into specialist education, or simply looking for greater flexibility, registering with Vision for Education gives you direct access to opportunities across The Ascent Academies' Trust.

The Ascent Academies' Trust provides specialist education for children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Working within the Trust, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils' learning, development, independence and wellbeing.

The Role

As a SEND Supply Teacher, you'll work within specialist settings supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

Depending on the placement, you'll be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons, adapting learning to meet individual needs and creating a positive, supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

You'll work closely with Teaching Assistants, support staff and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the individualised support they need to engage with learning and make progress.

Requirements

To be considered for a SEND Supply Teacher role, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND
  • The ability to adapt teaching and communication to meet individual needs
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, positive and resilient approach
  • The flexibility to adapt to different specialist settings
  • The ability to work effectively alongside Teaching Assistants and wider support teams

Previous SEND experience is desirable but not always essential. Teachers from mainstream backgrounds who have the right skills, approach and passion for working within specialist education are also encouraged to apply.
