Wakefield Council seeks an inspirational Resource Teacher for the SEND Unit at Moorthorpe Primary School to lead a specialist class supporting pupils with complex ASD, SLD, and SLCN. You will plan highly personalised programmes and work closely with families, mainstream staff, and external professionals to secure the best outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching pupils with ASD, SLD and complex learning needs.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches and curricula to meet diverse needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop a specialist class for pupils with complex ASD and SLD.
  • Plan and deliver highly personalised learning programmes tailored to individual needs.
  • Collaborate with families, mainstream colleagues and external professionals to achieve best outcomes.
  • Coordinate EHCP reviews with the Teacher in Charge, pupil profiles and personalised support plans.
  • Support leadership and develop a team of specialist support staff within the Unit.
  • Share expertise and provide SEND training and best practices.
  • Create a nurturing environment that builds on pupils' strengths and interests.
