Job summary

Quantum Scholars in Wokingham is seeking an experienced Philosophy Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one educational support for a young person with SEND. This is an in-person role requiring patience and adaptability.

You will tailor lessons to Philosophy concepts, support critical thinking, and help develop written argument skills while coordinating with parents and other professionals to monitor progress in a calm, structured environment.

Qualifications

Strong subject knowledge in Philosophy.
Experience teaching Philosophy or closely related subject.
Experience working with children or young people with SEND/SEMH.
Experience providing one-to-one educational support.
Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
The right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

Providing personalised one-to-one Philosophy tuition to a young person with SEND.
Supporting secondary-level Philosophy and GCSE/post-16 content, depending on learner needs.
Developing critical thinking, reasoning and written argument skills.
Adapting lessons and teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback.
Creating a calm, structured learning environment.
Working collaboratively with parents/carers and other professionals involved in the learner's support.
