Job summary

National Skills Agency is recruiting a Functional Skills Maths Tutor in Peterborough to deliver Entry Level 1-3 and Level 1/2 Maths. You will work with learners with SEND, including autism and ADHD, in small classes up to 12. A patient, adaptable, and creative teaching approach is essential to help learners achieve exam-ready outcomes.

The role emphasizes differentiation, progress diagnostics, and collaboration with QA to uphold high standards and safeguarding policies.

Qualifications

Teaching qualification and maths qualification required.
Experience teaching SEND learners or diverse learning needs.
Assessor qualification desirable, with strong classroom management and differentiation.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills Maths sessions (Entry Level to Level 2).
Differentiate learning to meet a wide range of needs.
Develop schemes of work and lesson plans aligned to curriculum standards.
Assess learner progress through diagnostics, mock exams, and ongoing reviews.
Support learners with communication, emotional regulation, and confidence.
Maintain accurate records of progress and performance.
Prepare learners for exams and successful outcomes.
Work collaboratively with the Quality Assurance team to maintain high standards.
Ensure safeguarding, Prevent, and equality policies are followed at all times.
