Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is recruiting an enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a Basildon, Essex-based SEND school. The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASC, SLD, PMLD and other needs, helping develop independence and communication.

You will work closely with teachers and therapists to create an inclusive learning environment, adapting activities to individual needs and promoting wellbeing. DBS checks and flexible, supportive working arrangements are provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or adults with SEND in education, healthcare, care homes or residential settings.
• Patient, caring and understanding approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Willingness to assist with personal care where necessary.

Responsibilities

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) School in Basildon, Essex, who are looking for enthusiastic and experienced

Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join their team.

The school supports children and young people with a range of additional needs, including

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities, communication difficulties and complex medical needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in SEND education, healthcare, residential care or support work who is passionate about helping young people develop their independence, communication and confidence.

The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will be expected to:

The ideal SEND Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Previous experience working with children or adults with SEND, whether in education, healthcare, care homes or residential settings.
• A patient, caring and understanding approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
• A willingness to assist with personal care where necessary.
• Experience supporting individuals with PMLD, SLD, physical disabilities or complex medical needs (desirable).
• A relevant SEND, childcare or healthcare qualification (desirable but not essential).
