Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Lewisham, starting September 2026. You will support pupils with ASC, SLD, PMLD, and other needs to access learning and reach individual targets in a safe, supportive setting.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver tailored programmes and monitor student progress in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children with SEND or complex needs.
• Strong safeguarding and child protection understanding.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEND needs.
• Support students with communication, emotional regulation, and personal development.
• Assist with behaviour management strategies and sensory interventions.
• Support pupils with personal care requirements where necessary.
• Work with teachers, therapists and staff to deliver tailored learning programmes.
• Promote a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and achievements.
