Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEN at a Stockport college from September 2026. The role is based in Stockport, with start on 01/09/2026 and a weekly pay rate of 500-550 GBP, depending on experience.

You will provide 1:1 and small group learning support, assist with personal care, and help manage behaviour while building strong relationships with pupils and staff. The position starts as long-term with a temp-to-perm path after 12 weeks.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in educational settings.
• Experience with SEN needs such as autism and complex learning needs.
• Experience providing personal care to pupils.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour with positive strategies.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach; capable of boundary-setting.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on 1:1 and small group basis to engage in learning.
• Assist with personal care when required.
• Help manage challenging and high-risk behaviours using positive strategies.
• Build strong, professional relationships with pupils and staff.
• Collaborate with SEN professionals and external agencies to support development.
