Job summary

Bradford College is seeking a Learning Assistant to support students with disabilities and learning needs. You will assist in classrooms, on visits and residentials, and contribute to an inclusive learning environment.

This entry‑level role offers a pathway into education with training and development opportunities. The ideal candidate is learner‑focused, values Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, and will help create a positive study culture while supporting staff and learners across Bradford

Qualifications

• GCSE 5-9 or Level 2 qualification in Maths required or tested at interview.
• GCSE 5-9 or Level 2 qualification in English required or tested at interview.
• Level 2 Safeguarding is desirable but not essential.

Job description

We are recruiting for Learning Assistant to join our Disability Services provision.

The Learning Assistants are an important part of our Disability Services Department, providing non-teaching support to students with disabilities, learning difficulties, medical needs and mental health issues to help them succeed in their course. This includes support in the classroom but also on visits and residentials.

The Learning Assistant role offers a fantastic entry into a career in Education.

The successful candidate will work 18.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing non-teaching support for students with special educational needs.
• Following professional guidance provided through EHC Plans and Learning Support Agreements.
• Providing verbal and written feedback on learner progress and accessibility issues to teaching staff.
• Assisting in the preparation of teaching aids and materials.

Education & Training

• GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
• GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before interview
• Level 2 Safeguarding is desirable but not essential

Experience

• Experience of supporting people with disabilities and/or learning difficulties (this can include voluntary work and/or student placements)
• Experience of working in an education setting is desirable but not essential
