About us

Ash Hill Primary School is in the Micklefield area of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The youngest children at our school are 3 years old (Nursery class), and the oldest are eleven (Year 6). There are approximately 210 children at Ash Hill altogether.

The Nursery is housed in the on-site Children's Centre. The centre provides a range of services and activities for families in the area. Ash Hill is a happy school, and everyone works together to ensure that the children are safe and well looked after, and that they all receive an education which enables them to meet their full potential.

What makes our school special:

  • A strong moral purpose: We are proud to be the first school in Buckinghamshire to achieve the Bronze Attachment Aware and Trauma Informed Award, reflecting our deep commitment to inclusion and emotional wellbeing.
  • A nurturing, ambitious environment: You'll be part of a team that sees potential, not problems — helping children develop confidence, resilience and joy in learning.
  • A supportive team culture: We work closely together, valuing everyone's role in helping our pupils succeed. You'll never be on your own — collaboration and kindness underpin everything we do.
  • Professional development that values you: We invest in our staff through bespoke coaching and high-quality CPD, recognising the vital role learning assistants play in pupils' success.
  • A workload-conscious, forward-thinking school: We use streamlined systems, high-quality curriculum resources and research-based practice to help staff focus on what really matters — relationships and impact.

The SEND Learning Assistant’s main role is to provide support for pupils and named pupils across the school. In doing so a Learning Assistant will;

  • Work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff to implement agreed learning programmes or enable access to learning with individuals, groups, in or out of the classroom.
  • To lead and maintain positive and enjoyable break times and lunch times for pupils, including organising and participating in physical games and activities.
  • To contribute to the aspirational whole school ethos, environment and organisation both practically and as a positive role model for pupils and colleagues.
