Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a SEND Inclusion Partner in Chelmsford for a fixed-term contract or secondment until August 2027. The role requires strong experience in inclusion, collaboration with schools and services, and a track record of influencing senior leaders to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

The post is based in the South Essex and countywide Inclusion and Psychology Teams, with travel across the area. A driving licence and mobility are required.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in SEND.
• Substantial teaching or Early Years’ experience with SEND.
• In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and national legislation.
• Experience in partnership working with schools, Health and Social Care, and the voluntary sector.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to deliver training.

Responsibilities

• Act as the link Inclusion Partner for selected schools, to review and improve practice and advise on EHCNA and Annual Reviews.
• Provide high quality education advice to schools and clusters to deliver inclusive education for SEND.
• Support delivery of school/setting led SEND, including peer development and dissemination of SEND knowledge.
• Collaborate with schools and colleges to evaluate and improve the SEND offer and capacity through coaching and training.
• Identify targeted support within schools to improve inclusion and successful transitions for CYP with SEND.
• Manage complex casework with internal and external partners to sustain placements and resolve issues.
