Job summary

Zest Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Newcastle-Under-Lyme seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join on a long-term basis. You will support pupils across the primary age range, with a focus on SEND, helping them access learning and develop confidence both academically and socially.

Role involves 1:1, small-group and class support, working with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals to implement learning plans and monitor progress.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare or youth support setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND (Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or other learning needs).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Genuine passion for helping children succeed academically and personally.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in whole-class, small-group and 1:1 activities.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
• Provide tailored SEND support to meet individual needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and pupil engagement.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, the SENCO and other professionals to implement learning plans.
• Monitor and record pupil progress where required.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.
