SEND Classroom Teacher

Location: York, North Yorkshire

Salary Scale: MPS/UPS; £31,650 - £49,084 per annum

Start Date: September 2025

Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEND Classroom Teacher to join a supportive team and make a lasting impact on the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities. The successful candidate will work at a secondary school located in York, North Yorkshire, starting in September 2025.

SEND Classroom Teacher Responsibilities:

1. Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons to students with a range of SEND.
2. Create an inclusive and positive classroom environment.
3. Work closely with LSAs, SENCO, and other professionals to meet individual EHCP targets.
4. Develop tailored resources and use adaptive teaching strategies.
5. Track and assess student progress, maintaining clear records.
6. Build strong, respectful relationships with students.

SEND Classroom Teacher Requirements:

• Have UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Proven experience teaching students with SEND, ideally within a secondary school setting.
• A sound understanding of SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to complete one through GSL Education.

Note: This role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
