Salary Scale: MPS/UPS; £31,650 - £49,084 per annum

Start Date: September 2025

Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEND Classroom Teacher to join a supportive team and make a lasting impact on the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities. The successful candidate will work at a secondary school located in York, North Yorkshire, starting in September 2025.

SEND Classroom Teacher Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons to students with a range of SEND.
  • Create an inclusive and positive classroom environment.
  • Work closely with LSAs, SENCO, and other professionals to meet individual EHCP targets.
  • Develop tailored resources and use adaptive teaching strategies.
  • Track and assess student progress, maintaining clear records.
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students.
SEND Classroom Teacher Requirements:
  • Have UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience teaching students with SEND, ideally within a secondary school setting.
  • A sound understanding of SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to complete one through GSL Education.

Note: This role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must pass all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
