Job summary

Milk Education in Ashington is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a Specialist SEND Secondary School on a long or short-term basis starting in September. You will support students with SEND needs on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping deliver personalised learning activities and interventions.

You’ll collaborate with teachers and professionals to adapt lessons, promote an inclusive classroom, and support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies, in a caring, supportive

Qualifications

• Recent experience in a school, SEND setting or education environment is desirable.
• Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs such as Autism, SEMH, ADHD or learning difficulties is desirable.
• Solid numeracy and literacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, responding to their individual SEND needs.
• Helping to deliver personalised learning activities and interventions to support academic, social and emotional development.
• Working alongside teachers and other professionals to adapt lessons and resources to meet a range of learning needs.
• Promoting a calm, accepting and inclusive learning environment where every student feels safe, valued and encouraged to achieve their goals.
• Supporting students with emotional regulation, communication and positive behaviour strategies where required.
