Job summary

Liverpool City Council is seeking a SEND Casework Officer to support pupils with Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans. The role involves statutory assessment, plan reviews, and ensuring appropriate placement and support in line with legislation.

The successful candidate will manage a caseload with due regard to statutory timescales, work collaboratively with families and professionals, and use IT tools to track progress. This is permanent full-time at Cunard Building, Liverpool.

Qualifications

• Experience of casework including supporting families.
• Knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and related SEND legislation.
• Ability to work under statutory timescales and deadlines.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manages a caseload of children and young people under assessment for EHC plans and those with existing EHC plans.
• Acts as first point of contact for families, providing excellent customer service and building positive relationships.
• Works in partnership with other agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
• Works independently on a specified caseload and as part of a wider team to statutory timescales.
• Uses all aspects of IT including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrates mediation and negotiation skills with ability to work under pressure and handle legal challenges.
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND regulations.
