Job summary

Bligh Primary School is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to lead SEND provision and champion inclusion across the school. You will work with the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion to identify, assess and monitor pupils with SEND, coordinate targeted interventions and support programmes, and maintain accurate SEND records and EHCP processes.

Qualifications

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (or is willing to work towards it)
• Has experience supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• Has excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
• Builds positive and effective relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and external agencies
• Is passionate about removing barriers to learning and raising achievement for all pupils
• Is reflective, solution-focused and committed to continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the school's SEND policy and provision
• Identify, assess and monitor the progress of pupils with SEND
• Coordinate and oversee targeted interventions and support programmes
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure effective inclusive practice
• Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals to secure the best outcomes for pupils
• Maintain accurate SEND records and statutory documentation
• Coordinate Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes and annual reviews
• Advise, coach and support colleagues in SEND strategies and best practice
• Contribute to the development of a culture where all pupils feel valued, supported and able to succeed
• Undertake the role of Designated Looked After Child Teacher (DLACT)
