Job summary

Bligh Primary School (Infants) is seeking an experienced SENCo to lead inclusion and remove barriers so every child thrives. Working with the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, you will coordinate SEND provision across the school and champion high-quality inclusive teaching.

You will oversee EHCPs, monitor progress, liaise with families and external professionals, and maintain SEND records. A QTS and the National Award for SEN Coordination are required, or you should be willing to train.

Qualifications

• Requires QTS and eligibility to teach in the UK.
• National Award for SEN Coordination or willingness to work towards it.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
• Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with families and professionals.
• Reflective, solution-focused and committed to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the school's SEND policy and provision.
• Identify, assess and monitor the progress of pupils with SEND.
• Coordinate and oversee targeted interventions and support programmes.
• Work with teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive practice.
• Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Coordinate EHCP processes and annual reviews.
• Advise, coach and support colleagues in SEND strategies.
• Maintain accurate SEND records and statutory documentation.
• Undertake the role of DLACT.
• Contribute to a culture where all pupils feel valued and able to succeed.
