A New Chapter in SEND Education in Surrey

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and inspiring SENDCo to be a foundational member of a brand-new SEND Secondary School in Merstham. This is a unique chance to shape the provision and educational journey for neurodivergent young people aged 11-16.

Our new school is committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for 100 young people, with a main site in Merstham and a satellite provision in Caterham. As part of a respected network of schools in Surrey, we foster a collaborative atmosphere where staff and students benefit from shared best practices, resources, and joint events.

We believe in empowering our students by offering a broad and exciting curriculum, closely aligned with the national curriculum but personalised to ignite their interests and passions. Through small class sizes, high levels of classroom support, and a dedicated multi-disciplinary intervention team, we provide every opportunity for our students to achieve their full potential. Our focus is on developing essential social communication, sensory processing, and emotional regulation skills, preparing students for independent, meaningful lives and empowering them to pursue their aspirations in further education, training, or employment.

The Role

As a key pillar of our new school's success, the SENDCo will work in close partnership with the Head of School. This is a significant leadership role where you will be instrumental in all aspects of leadership and management. You will take strategic responsibility for developing and enhancing:

  • Learning and Teaching
  • Curriculum Design and Implementation
  • Careers Guidance and Work Experience Programmes
  • Assessment and Progress Tracking
  • Enrichment and Extra-Curricular Activities

About You

We are seeking a highly effective and passionate SENDCo with a proven track record of raising standards and improving outcomes for students with special educational needs. You will be a qualified teacher with the National Award for SENDCo, or a willingness to complete it. Your innovative and student-centred approach will be crucial in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment from the ground up. You will be a skilled leader, capable of inspiring and developing a team of dedicated professionals.

This is more than a job; it's an opportunity to be at the heart of a new and exciting educational project, making a tangible difference in the lives of young people. If you are a dynamic and forward-thinking SENDCo ready for a new challenge, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Please apply now or contact Paul Hirchfield at Randstad on 01293 527416 or email paul.hirchfield@randstadeducation.co.uk

We look forward to hearing from you!

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service check along with other relevant employment checks, including satisfactory references.
