Job description

This school is seeking a committed and experienced SENCO to lead and coordinate provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This is a vital role in our inclusive school community, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring all children receive the support they need to thrive.

As SENCO, you will work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to identify needs early, implement effective strategies, and champion every pupil’s progress. This role may include a small teaching commitment, depending on your availability and the needs of the school. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a SENCO:

  1. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEND policy.
  2. Coordinate provision for pupils with SEND and ensure high-quality teaching for all.
  3. Lead on EHCP processes, referrals, and reviews in collaboration with external professionals.
  4. Work with teachers and support staff to implement targeted interventions and inclusive practices.
  5. Maintain up-to-date SEND records and liaise regularly with parents and carers.
  6. Provide CPD, advice, and coaching to colleagues on SEND strategies and classroom differentiation.
  7. Monitor, track, and report on the progress of pupils with SEND to SLT and governors.

Ideal SENCO:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete).
  • A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Experience working with children with a range of SEND.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills as a SENCO.
  • A reflective, child-centred approach and commitment to inclusive education.
