Job summary

Halstow Primary School in London is seeking an exceptional SENCO with responsibility for our School-based Resource Provision to join our team and help secure the best outcomes for children with SEND.

As SENCO and Resource Provision Lead you will provide strategic leadership for SEND, lead EHCP processes and annual reviews, work with families and agencies, and coach colleagues to deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching across the school.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading SEND across a school and developing inclusive practice.
  • Willingness to achieve National Award for SEN Coordination within statutory timescales.
  • Experience working with pupils with a range of SEND including complex needs.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Commitment to achieving excellent outcomes for children and families.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for SEND across the school.
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations and development of the Resource Provision.
  • Ensure pupils with SEND receive high-quality support that enables them to achieve excellent outcomes.
  • Champion inclusive practice and adaptive teaching throughout the school.
  • Work closely with parents, carers, external agencies and the Local Authority.
  • Lead EHCP processes, annual reviews and transition planning.
  • Support and coach teachers and support staff to develop their expertise in SEND.
  • Analyse pupil progress and provision impact to drive continuous improvement.

At Halstow Primary School, we are seeking to appoint an exceptional SENCO with responsibility for our School-based Resource Provision to join our team and play a pivotal role in continuing to secure the very best outcomes for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Our Ofsted inspection in January 2026 praised the school's extremely strong culture of inclusion highlighting the high expectations that exist for all pupils when identifying and addressing barriers to learning., reflecting the high-quality education, inclusive ethos and positive culture we have established. This is an exciting opportunity to build on this success and help lead the next stage of our journey. Halstow is part of Compass EKO Trust, TES Inclusive Trust of the year and you will be supported by the Trust Lead in inclusion in your role.

The Role

As SENCO and Resource Provision Lead, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for SEND across the school.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:
  • Is a highly effective and experienced teacher with a strong understanding of SEND.
  • Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (or is willing to achieve it within statutory timescales).
  • Has experience working with pupils with a range of additional needs, including complex SEND.
  • Has strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Is committed to achieving the very best outcomes for children and families.
  • Has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
