Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking dedicated SEN Tutors to provide 1:1 and small-group support in Wokingham for students accessing Alternative Provision and EOTAS. You will build trusting relationships and adapt approaches to meet SEND/SEMH needs, helping learners re-engage with education.

Quantum Scholars are looking for dedicated and experienced SEN Tutors to provide 1:1 and small-group support to young people across Wokingham who are accessing Alternative Provision and EOTAS.

We work closely with local education providers to support young people who are currently unable to access mainstream education. We are looking for tutors who can provide a calm, consistent and personalised approach, helping students to rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning and make positive progress.

The young people you support may have a range of SEND and/or SEMH needs, and many will have experienced barriers or difficulties within a traditional school environment. This role is about much more than delivering academic tuition, it is about building positive relationships, understanding individual needs and creating a safe and supportive environment where young people can learn and develop.

We are looking for patient, adaptable and genuinely passionate tutors who can make a positive difference to the young people they work with.

The role may involve:

• Delivering 1:1 or small-group support to primary and/or secondary-aged students
• Supporting students across a range of subjects, depending on your experience and expertise
• Providing personalised support for students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
• Planning and delivering engaging, accessible and individualised learning activities
• Adapting your approach to suit different abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement
• Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with young people
• Helping students develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
• Supporting young people who may have experienced difficulties accessing mainstream education
• Helping students to re-engage with education in a positive and meaningful way
• Supporting both the academic and wider development of students where appropriate
• Monitoring progress and providing constructive feedback
• Working collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals where required
• Maintaining clear and professional communication
• Following safeguarding and safer working practices at all times

Essential requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people in an educational, tutoring or support setting
• Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
• Experience providing 1:1 or personalised support is desirable
• The ability to adapt your teaching and support to meet individual needs
• Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
• A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
• The ability to build trust and positive relationships with young people
• A genuine commitment to helping children and young people reach their potential
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
• Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check, where required
• Satisfactory professional references
• The right to work in the UK
