Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking experienced SEND Tutors to provide personalised one-to-one and small-group support to children and young people across Taunton and the surrounding areas of Somerset. This in-person role focuses on learners with SEND and SEMH, with emphasis on building confidence and progress.

Role involves delivering engaging, accessible sessions, adapting to individual needs, and safeguarding. Experience with anxiety, school avoidance or behavioural challenges is valuable.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching, tutoring or supporting children and young people.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

We work closely with local authorities to provide Alternative Provision and EOTAS support for young people who may be unable to access mainstream education. As a result, we are looking for tutors who have the experience, patience and understanding needed to support students with a range of SEND and/or SEMH needs.

This is an in-person role and is not online tutoring.

The successful tutor will be able to build positive and trusting relationships with students, adapt their approach to individual needs and provide engaging, accessible learning sessions that help young people develop their confidence, engagement and progress.

Experience working with students who have struggled within a traditional school environment, including those experiencing anxiety, school avoidance, behavioural challenges or difficulties engaging with education, would be particularly beneficial.

QTS/QTLS or relevant teaching qualifications are desirable, alongside experience working within SEND, Alternative Provision, EOTAS, PRU or similar settings.
