Job summary

Keys Education in Southampton is seeking an inspiring SEN Tutor to support vulnerable students on a 1:1 basis in Maths, English and PSHE at KS3. We serve learners across Key Stages 3-5 to re-engage with education and progress toward accredited qualifications.

The role involves home-based tuition, travel between locations, and collaboration with our curriculum leadership team. You will have access to resources, a supported team, and opportunities to contribute to curriculum development.

Qualifications

• Commitment to helping students with SEND.
• Experience tutoring children with SEND or SEMH needs.
• Must hold a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle and valid business insurance and MOT.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 tutoring in Maths, English and PSHE for KS3 students.
• Support learners to re-engage with education and work towards accredited qualifications.
• Collaborate with curriculum leadership and participate in team reviews and planning.

Alternative Learning is looking for an inspiring SEN Tutor to support vulnerable students on a 1:1 basis in Maths, English and PSHE at KS3. We support a range of learners across Keys stages 3 -5 to re-engage with education, gain accredited qualifications and transition to a positive destination.

We support young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to SEMH needs, EBSNA, anxiety or SEND needs. Our personalised approach includes face-to-face home tuition, online lessons, enrichment activities, outdoor education and EHCP linked therapeutic intervention.

• You will feel part of the team, regularly supported and invited to team meetings, coffee mornings and holistic reviews of the children

• A regular and consistent timetable to help you plan your diary in half termly chunks
• We empower our tutors to have their say on the curriculum offer for every child. This includes soft skills, numeracy/literacy, cooking, re-accessing the community and more
• Opportunity to complete exams with learners as we are a registered exam centre for Functional Skills, AQA unit award, Outdoor Ed quals, ASDAN, Open Awards, PSHE modular qualifications and more

Requirements:

• A committed and passionate view of students with SEND
• Experience of tuition of children with SEND or SEMH needs
• Must hold a full UK driving licence, have access to your own vehicle, and be able to provide evidence of valid business insurance and a current MOT.
