Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Level 5+ specialist qualification, or proven experience tutoring SEND learners.
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and behaviour regulation strategies.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication.
  • Current enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Job description

SEN Tutor Location: Hull Salary: £26 – £33 per hour Start Date: January 2026 or sooner

GSL Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Tutors to deliver 1:1 face-to-face tuition to children and young people across Hull. This is a rewarding opportunity for educators who are passionate about making a real difference to learners with additional needs.

About the Role

As an SEN Tutor, you will:

  • Provide personalised 1:1 tuition to pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, global development delay, and other learning needs.
  • Deliver bespoke learning programmes in core subjects (English, Maths, Science or functional skills), tailored to the student’s abilities and goals.
  • Support learners who may be out of school, transitioning back into education, or requiring specialist intervention.
  • Work collaboratively with GSL Education, parents, and local authorities to track progress and meet agreed outcomes.
  • Create a safe, structured, and encouraging learning environment that promotes confidence and independence.
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Level 5+ specialist qualification, or proven experience tutoring SEND learners.
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and behaviour regulation strategies.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
  • The ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with the GSL team.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
