Job summary

Horizon Care Ltd. is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for Woodbury School in Wolverhampton. The role supports pupils aged 7-18 with various learning needs, assisting in education and social development with 1:1 support where required.

You will help set up activities, use technology to aid learning, and work closely with teachers to ensure a positive, inclusive classroom environment and successful daily outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children who have behavioural support needs.
• GCSEs in English and Maths or functional skills equivalent.
• Willingness to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in educational and social development, 1:1 where needed.
• Provide support inside and outside the classroom to enable full engagement.
• Help set up activities using technology and adjust environments for needs.
• Support teachers, engage with students and maintain a positive classroom atmosphere.
• Respond calmly to situations and support learning progress.

Our specialist Woodbury SEN School in the WV10 area of Wolverhampton is recruiting for Teaching Assistants to join the team.

Woodbury School is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls.

Based in Wolverhampton, the school meets the diverse needs of pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex learning needs including Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) .

What you’ll get to do:

• Assisting students in their educational and social development.
• Provide support inside and outside of the classroom, so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities.
• Help to set up activities for students, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit their needs.
• Support teachers, engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting to situations in the classroom in a positive, non-disruptive manner.
• Working 1:1 with some students, to give them the time and support they need to learn.

What we’re looking for from you:

• Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs with a good knowledge of behavioural management techniques and strategies
• Grade C or above GCSE in English and Math, or L1/2 equivalent functional skills qualification
• Hold or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification
