Job summary

Woodbury School in Wolverhampton (WV10) is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join Horizon Care and Education.

You will support pupils aged 7–18 with complex learning needs, provide 1:1 and classroom assistance, and help create an inclusive, supportive environment using suitable strategies and technology.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs with a good knowledge of behavioural management techniques and strategies.
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent functional skills.
• Willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assisting students in their educational and social development.
• Provide support inside and outside of the classroom, so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities.
• Help to set up activities for students, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit their needs.
• Support teachers, engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting to situations in the classroom in a positive, non-disruptive manner.
• Working 1:1 with some students, to give them the time and support they need to learn.
