Job summary

Horizon Care and Education is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for Woodbury School in Wolverhampton. The role supports children aged 7-18 with complex needs, including SEMH, to engage and progress.

You’ll assist in class and beyond, set up activities with technology, support teachers, and work 1:1 with some pupils to provide tailored learning support.

Applicants should have GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above (or L2) and be willing to work towards a recognised TA qualification.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children with behavioural support needs.
• GCSE English and Maths (C or above) or L1/2 functional skills.
• Willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assisting students in their educational and social development.
• Provide support inside and outside of the classroom, so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities.
• Help to set up activities for students, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit their needs.
• Support teachers, engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting to situations in the classroom in a positive, non-disruptive manner.
• Working 1:1 with some students, to give them the time and support they need to learn.
