Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Wakefield – WF4
Pay: £460–£600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term / Day - to - Day
Start Date: Immediately

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? A local school in Wakefield (WF4) is seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and provide hands‑on support to pupils with a range of learning needs.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with needs such as autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties. You’ll help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, contributing to a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to provide targeted academic and emotional support
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation under teacher guidance
  • Contribute to individual support plans and monitor pupil progress
  • Build meaningful relationships that foster confidence and independence
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication, patience, and resilience
  • Genuine interest in SEN and child development
  • An up‑to‑date CV and enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply)

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Have an up‑to‑date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one
